We have worked hard over the years to make the Red Lion into everything we believe a contemporary pub restaurant should be.
It goes without saying that delivering high standards on the essentials such as the quality of food, value and service is important to us.
Our aim is simple, it is to provide affordable, good food with an emphasis on flavour and quality of ingredients. We source ingredients locally where possible for obvious reasons, but recognise that sourcing from further afield may provide better quality or wider seasonal choice when appropriate. So whilst using the acclaimed Pinneys of Orford smoked salmon which has come from less than 30 miles away, we also source cod from Scotland as it is arguably better than that caught locally at certain times of the year.
As with all good restaurants, we cater for vegetarians and can often accommodate special dietary requirements or any reasonable request for something you see on our menu that you wish cooked differently.
The front of house team at the Red Lion will warmly welcome you and ensure that your visit is an enjoyable experience and one that you will want to repeat. Our bar is always well stocked and we have Adnams Southwold beers available together with a good selection of other bottled beers, wines and spirits.

If you’re sailing around the Essex and Suffolk coast, we’re just over 2 miles from the beautiful Woolverstone Marina, which equates to a 40 minute walk or short taxi ride.
The area around Chelmondiston and Pin Mill is very popular with those wishing to exercise their legs, with many beautiful walks. Walkers are welcome in the Red Lion although it would be appreciated if muddy boots were removed prior to entry. For more information about local walks, click here.
